As it was conceived by master and inventor of Mars Conqueror Mk1 watch, it can be used both on the surface of our planet and by the future conquerors of the red planet during space travel to it as well as on its surface further on. The watch is designed for simultaneous indication of local time and standard or UTC time on Earth, of mean solar time on Mars, and of additional space and astronomical functions – Konstantin Chaykin had implemented in the watch movement 9 complications in total. The highly complex movement of the Mars Conqueror Mk1 naturally had to be carefully checked and tested, especially when you consider that 175 parts are used to assemble the display module and the number of wheels is as high as 30. Therefore, Konstantin Chaykin thoroughly tested the new Mars Conqueror Mk1 watch before presenting it to the public. The caliber K.20-1, the movement of the Mars Conqueror MkI, and the watch itself were presented to the public in Moscow on July 27, 2018, exactly at the moment of the perihelic opposition of Mars and our planet. April 12, 2019, the date of the official presentation, was chosen because it is International Human Spaceflight Day, which is celebrated every year around the world in honor of the anniversary of the first manned spaceflight performed by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in the Vostok-1 spacecraft on April 12, 1961. Parallel to the development of the complicated movement, Konstantin Chaykin had decided to develop a new, bold and unorthodox design for the Mars Conqueror Mk1 watch. In general, the design was inspired by the dashboards of the Soviet spaceships of the 1960s. The shape of the case was determined by the unusual movement in the shape of a triangle, that is extremely rare in watchmaking. This gave the movement itself the dynamic, futuristic outline of a spaceship. The shape and design of the conical winding crown, which sits in a carefully crafted recess in the case at 6 o'clock, is reminiscent of the nozzle of a space engine. The design is rounded off by a white leather strap with contrasting orange stitching and a characteristic trim of white fabric used for Russian space suits… So, Konstantin Chaykin never stops inventing new watch straps. The unique and exceptional appearance of the Mars Conqueror Mk1 watch is emphasized by the use of three separate dials displaying Earth time (in the center), Martian time (on the left) and Martian date together with the display of the planet's astronomical positions (on the right; this display can also be used to indicate the duration of the Martian mission in soles). The distinctive appearance of the dials, with their technically designed markings in a minimalist military style, perfectly complements an unusual, multi-faceted titanium case with an intricate shape and a special, gently rounded bezel decorated with a sophisticated matte finish. The caliber К.20-1 of the Mars Conqueror Mk1 watch was developed by Konstantin Chaykin to combine the display of Martian and Earth time with the planetary display of the relative positions of the Sun, Earth and Mars in a single timepiece. The movement is made entirely in Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture according to the standards of haute horlogerie, using traditional techniques for finishing the components: Côtes de Genève, perlage, fine straight and circular grinding, hand-polished chamfers, engravings, polished screw, pin and jewel recesses, ball polishing of the pivots and rhodium plating.
