Thus, the timepiece evolved from a clock for general use to a personal watch, and people entered the world of standardized timekeeping. In some ways, these times are comparable to the modern age, where mobile communication, once a necessity, has evolved into an uninterrupted personal connection with the world of the global information system. The caliber K.01-5 of the Genius Temporis watch was developed by Konstantin Chaykin and is equipped with a mechanism that can switch the single hand from the hour to the minute display when the button is pressed. The movement is made entirely in Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture according to the standards of haute horlogerie, using traditional techniques for finishing the components: Côtes de Genève, perlage, fine straight and circular grinding, hand-polished chamfers, engravings, polished screw, pin and jewel recesses, ball polishing of the pivots and rhodium plating. A special feature of the movement is a ‘Pac-Man’ regulator, developed by Konstantin Chaykin for fine adjustment of the hairspring. The dial, which is designed in the emphatically austere style of the early Renaissance, is dominated by a single hand made of blued steel. The hand indicates the hour or the minute, depending on the owner’s desire. There are two scales on the dial – an outer scale for the hours and an inner scale for the minutes. By pressing a button, you can switch the watch, with the hand jumping from the hour to the minute. When you release the button, the hand returns to the hours.
