Konstantin Chaykin has given the Joker watch and other Wristmons a fun, light-hearted character. So in 2017, he decided that the eve of All Saints' Day was a good opportunity to bring out a special Wristmon. This is how the Pumpkin Head Special Halloween 2017 watch was born, the first of Konstantin Chaykin’s Wristmons to feature a bronze case. This alloy has become very popular among watch connoisseurs, mainly because the disadvantage of patina is now seen as an advantage. The patina that inevitably develops on bronze tells us that the time the owner has spent with this watch is priceless. There is something special about observing the watch being built. It is not just a mechanical process, but a true art in which the meticulous work of the master craftsman is combined with the precision of technical thinking. Assembling a watch is something that can fascinate, inspire and convey a sense of wonder. The caseback of the Pumpkin Head watch is made of stainless steel. This is a very good option, as the bronze case leaves no marks on the hand when the watch is worn. The caseback features an artfully crafted medallion with a smiling pumpkin head motif in relief, which was created just for this unique piece. Konstantin Chaykin decided that a suitable prototype for the Halloween Wristmon would be the “pumpkin head” – a lantern carved from a pumpkin, which is traditionally used to decorate houses on Halloween. Therefore, a pumpkin-orange color was chosen for the dial and the moon and a lighter, yellowish color for the eyes, the moon disk, the triangular nose and the edge of the dial – as if it were the reflection of a candle standing in the pumpkin lantern. The Joker’s moon smile was simply transformed into the toothy grin of a jack-o’-lantern, and the “pumpkin” smile with the moon peeking through the teeth of this new character suddenly took on a distinctly Halloween “gothic” flavor. Instead of round eyes, Chaykin made them triangular, which matched the “pumpkin head” perfectly. Instead of a wavy guilloche relief decoration, the background of the dial was given a straight-line radial decoration with a relief of large, flat edges, which created a wonderful play of light reflections with the slightest movement of the watch. The bronze case has a diameter of 42 mm and is 13.7 mm thick Especially for the Joker and other models of the Wristmons collection Konstantin Chaykin developed a double-disc display for the hour and minute indications, as well as a moonphase indicator. In the construction and design of the movement, he was guided by the principles of haute horlogerie, despite the fact that the movement is hidden under an opaque dial. Konstantin Chaykin meticulously finished every part of the movement using classic techniques: perlage; fine longitudinal and circular grinding; sandblasting; hand-polished chamfers; engravings; polished screw, pin and jewel recesses; ball polishing of the pivots; and rhodium plating. In total the module includes 8 jewels, designed to reduce friction, while the moonphase indicator is driven by a wheel with 59 teeth.
