The Hermès Arceau Locomotion watch is a vivid celebration of art and horology, drawing inspiration from Ugo Bienvenu’s futuristic and pop-art reinterpretation of the Hermès Faubourg Saint-Honoré boutique. Originally created for the Hermès Locomotion scarf, Bienvenu’s playful and imaginative design comes to life on the curved surface of the Arceau watch dial. Layers of miniature painting in pink, yellow, blue, and green create a striking sense of depth and motion, transforming simple pencil sketches into expressive brushwork. The diamond-set case further engances the visual spectacle. Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau model has long served as a canvas for creative expression. In this 12 piece limited edition, the design pushes the boundaries of watchmaking artistry with a multi-layered approach to the dial. One layer is painted directly onto the base, while another is applied to the underside of the sapphire crystal. This creates a miniature three-dimensional scene, like a diorama, that invites the viewer into Bienvenu’s dreamy world. Subtle silver-toned hands blend into the composition, quietly marking time without disrupting the artwork. The Arceau Hermès Locomotion is powered by the in-house H1912 self-winding movement and housed in a 38 mm white gold case. A pale mauve alligator strap complements the colour palette, adding a final touch of refinement.
