Introduced in October 2024, the Angelus Instrument de Vitesse is a watch that strips the chronograph down to its purest form. There are no sub-counters cluttering the dial, no distractions—just a clean, vintage-inspired design that feels as much at home on the wrist as it would in the cockpit of a classic race car. The two dial options, Indianapolis blue, and Silverstone grey set the tone with a refined yet sporty vibe, while the tachymeter scale, printed crisply around the dial’s edge, reminds you this is a serious instrument built for speed. At first glance, you might mistake the Instrument de Vitesse for a simple three-hander, but a closer look reveals its true identity. The single pusher on the crown controls the central seconds hand, which starts its journey across the dial with a smooth sweep—a clear signal this is a chronograph made for timing short bursts of speed, precisely and elegantly. Limited to just 25 pieces in each color, this watch is part of the La Fabrique family. The 39mm steel case is impressively thin at just 9.27mm, and it feels effortless on the wrist. The dial layout is smartly divided—on the outer ring, you have the tachymeter scale, calibrated from 60 to 500 km/h, and inside, the minutes circle keeps the time display easy to read. Powering the Instrument de Vitesse is the manually-wound A5000 calibre, made by Angelus’ sister company, La Joux-Perret. It’s a column-wheel chronograph with a horizontal clutch—just like the classic chronographs of the 1950s.
