Description

The Shabbat clock is the realization of Konstantin Chaykin’s idea to create a special calendar movement with a Shabbat function that allows its owner to avoid winding the clock during the Shabbat. For the Shabbat clock, Konstantin Chaykin invented a unique complication with mechanical logic, a kind of mechanical computer that analyzes the status of the calendar and the mainspring barrel. Based on this information, the mechanical computer decides whether to keep the clock running or stop it. When it decides to stop, the special lever stops the tourbillon and thus the entire movement. The clock that can stop its tourbillon is one of the most important developments in modern clockmaking by Konstantin Chaykin. He was also the first to use the stop mechanism of a tourbillon to create a Shabbat complication that had never been existed in a clock. The Shabbat table clock is equipped with a very complex movement with tourbillon, Jewish calendar, moonphase and power reserve indicators, which makes its assembly a particularly challenging task. This clock has something that is almost impossible to find in other table clocks – a fine finishing of all parts, the quality of which is comparable to the finishing of the parts of a luxury wristwatch. This is why the Konstantin Chaykin table clock takes a lot of time to make and the watchmakers at the manufactory go to great lengths. It is a real pleasure to watch such a masterpiece being assembled. The most important thing about a luxury table clock is that it is finely crafted, no matter whichever way you look at it. The back of the Shabbat clock also displays the same quality of workmanship as the dial side. In addition, the caliber back plate has a strictly vertical architecture, highlighted by fine vertical brushing, with four cabochons in a row mounted on screws, giving the clock a particularly refined character. Caliber: TSB.01-4, key wound, made by Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture Power reserve: 10 days Functions: – Hours and minutes, – Tourbillon; – Jewish calendar with date and month; – Day of the week; – Power reserve; – Moonphase indicator; – Shabbat function. When designing a clock in the luxury category, the watchmaker must take into account both the high level of finish and the style, carefully selecting the material for the case and leaving no detail, however small, unnoticed. For discerning connoisseurs, Konstantin Chaykin offers a wide range of case variants, including those made of precious wood – for the Shabbat clock, he prefers carved wenge wood or Karelian birch decor. This makes it possible to design a clock as a unique, tailor-made objet d’art. Case dimensions: 254х249х123 mm
