The Strehler Säntis world timer represents a natural evolution for independent watchmaker Andreas Strehler, building on the success of his first model, the Sirna. While the Sirna focused on simplicity, the Säntis introduces a practical complication without losing that same sense of restraint. Named after the Säntis mountain overlooking Strehler’s workshop in the Appenzell Alps, the watch feels deeply personal and rooted in its Swiss surroundings. It is designed to be worn every day, a world timer that is not overly technical or intimidating, but instead clear, elegant, and genuinely useful. What makes the Säntis stand out is how easy it is to use. The world time function follows a classic Cottier style display but is controlled entirely through a single crown, avoiding unnecessary complexity. With a few simple adjustments, you can track time across 24 cities worldwide, complete with a clear day and night indication. The 40mm stainless steel case is slim and comfortable, slipping easily under a cuff, while the titanium dial adds depth with its textured, light catching finish. Its distinctive pattern is inspired by the design created with Eric Giroud for the Sirna, here subtly reworked and individually machined and hand finished for a more refined, three dimensional look. The central dial, minute ring, and crown are available in a curated selection of around 20 colours, allowing for a personalised touch or a clean, uniform look across all elements. Inside, the Säntis is powered by Strehler’s in house SA-30W automatic movement, upgraded with a dedicated world time module. It offers a solid 60 hour power reserve and is finished to a high standard, with details like Geneva stripes and a skeletonized gold rotor visible through the caseback. Production is intentionally small, around 30 to 50 pieces per year, making each watch feel special without being marketed as a limited edition. With a range of colour options and entirely in house craftsmanship, the Säntis is a thoughtful and beautifully executed take on the modern luxury world timer.
