Selling my Guinand Flight Officer (42 mm), bought new in 2022 and worn only sparingly. It’s in excellent pre-owned condition and comes as a full set with box, papers and hang tag. If you know Sinn, you’ve already seen Guinand’s fingerprints: this is the company that’s been building serious tool watches since 1865 in Les Brenets, Switzerland, especially chronographs and pilot’s watches for other brands and militaries. One of their big clients for decades was Helmut Sinn’s Frankfurt brand – Guinand actually manufactured many Sinn watches up to the mid-90s. After selling Sinn Spezialuhren in 1994, Helmut Sinn wasn’t done. He bought Guinand, moved it to Frankfurt and used it as his “second chapter” to keep building robust, no-nonsense instruments under the Guinand name. Today Guinand calls itself a Frankfurt-based pilot-watch specialist with Swiss roots going back to 1865 – and this Flight Officer is very much that idea on the wrist. Why this Flight Officer is cool Real history, not a fantasy logo: 1865 Swiss origin, later taken over and relaunched in Frankfurt by Helmut Sinn – the same guy who built the Sinn aesthetic in the first place. Modern “everyday instrument”: Guinand literally describes the Flight Officer as a modern instrument reduced to the essentials – three hands, date, high contrast, no gimmicks. Made to be worn, not babied: 42 mm satin-brushed steel case, 10 bar water resistance, domed sapphire and screw-down sapphire back – it’s a proper daily pilot, not a dress toy. Solid heart: Sellita SW220-1 automatic (26 jewels, 4 Hz, ~38–40 h power reserve) with decoration, Côtes de Genève rotor and blued screws. Hacking, hand-winding, quickset date, proven reliability. Currently sold out at Guinand.
