VINTAGE RARE SEIKO QUARTZ POINTER DATE 6F25-6019. It has the date sub-dial in the center of the watch, and has a red pointer to indicate the date. It shows the evolution of complications as they were added to the watch, a date sub-dial in its most primitive form. Also this watch is in LIKE NEW condition with a beautiful gold case, and Seiko branded buckle and new watch strap. New battery on 1/1/26, and it is keeping time beautifully. The pointer date complication, which uses a central hand to indicate the date on an outer dial ring, was patented by A. Hammerly in 1915. Popularized in the 1930s by brands like Mido and notably Oris (starting in 1938), it offered a stylish, legible alternative to date windows. Though eclipsed by aperture windows in the 1950s, it remains a classic, often seen in heritage designs. This Seiko vintage quartz watch combines refined styling with Seiko’s trusted accuracy. The watch features a polished gold-tone round case, a crisp white dial with Roman numeral hour markers, and a distinctive pointer date function shown by a central hand with a red arrow tip that tracks the date around the inner scale. Powered by Seiko’s reliable 6F25 quartz movement, this timepiece offers both everyday practicality and vintage charm. The slim profile and classic brown leather strap make it a versatile accessory for business, formal, or casual wear. Finally, I love is the central pointer date. In my opinion, it’s possibly the most elegant date solution. Although the pointer style date was one of the first types of date displays on watches, it has found itself slightly less popular these days. Sure, a pointer date isn’t quite as instantly readable as a classic date window, but hey. I find that you get over that quite quickly. The central pointer date is a fairly self-explanatory name. A centrally-mounted hand points to the date on a scale around the dial’s edge. The best thing about this style of date indication is that it doesn’t skew any dial symmetry, and there’s no window or sub-dial required. As I mentioned, the pointer date is a more visually attractive option.
