SMITHS W10 0552 Royal Navy Issued Watch 6B British Military Army 60466e Vintage Watch 6645-99-961-4045 1968 Broad Arrow Serial Number: 4255/68 Dial & Hands: Matte black dial with pheon and circle T (signifying tritium) that has a developed a subtle and very pleasing patina on all the hour plots. The hands have age a shade or two darker. Both dial and hands are in excellent condition. Under a UV light, all lume plots and hands glow an intense green which quickly fades, as is correct for a watch from this era. Case: Stainless steel at approximately 35mm with fixed lugs. Front Glass/Crystal: Plexiglass. Caseback: Stainless steel screw down. Year: 1968 issue. Accessories: None, watch head only (strap in images *not* included in sale). Movement: Cal. 60466e Service History: Watch was serviced by a local watchmaker here in Japan in November of 2025. The watch had a new main spring and set lever installed, sourced from Cousins UK (the set lever is a known weak link in these watches). Paperwork and old parts will be included in sale. Unfortunately, Ch24 will not allow me to upload the paperwork for “security reasons”, but it will be included. Comments: A extremely nice example of one of the rarest iterations of the Smiths field watches. These were initially issued to the Army and then subsequently re-issued to the Royal Navy, thus the strikethrough of W10 and acid like etching of 0552, which is characteristic of these watches. As far as I can gather, only only around 300 were issued to the Royal Navy. If you would like to see vids of the watch, please search vswch24 onyt and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, etc. Thank you.
