Universal Genève "Nina Rindt" Compax After a watchmaking hiatus of nearly 35 years, Universal Genève is making its long-awaited return to manufacturing. With all the buzz surrounding the brand, it is hard to ignore the iconic "Nina Rindt" Compax chronograph. Description: This is an incredible example, ref. 885103/02, of the first "Mark 1" version. It features its panda dial, blue central chronograph hand, unpainted hour and minute hands, baton sub-dial hands, and an applied (not painted) "U" logo. It also retains the original "dot over 90" (DON) bezel. It is powered by a manual-wind movement—the famous Valjoux Calibre 72, notably used by Longines, Heuer, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Yema, Breitling, Zodiac, Nivada, Ulysse Nardin, Eterna, Mathey-Tissot, and Rolex for its Daytona. The case measures 36mm in diameter and is unpolished. This watch has a serial number dating to approximately 1965. Provenance & Condition: The watch was purchased directly from Emmanuel Lipmann, the founder of Lip, who distributed the brand in France at the time. It has had only one owner since, which explains its exceptional condition. **Box & Papers:** None. **Service History:** Serviced in 2018 by a specialist in vintage chronographs; very rarely worn since.
