Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox EUROPEAN Alarm 18K Gold Plated Vintage Just 2000 Was Produced Cal.601 Swiss Made EXTREMELY RARE! This unique version of the Memovox with an alarm hand instead of the rotating alarm dial (caliber 601) is like gold dust. The watch was only produced for one year (1952) and only 2,000 of the caliber 601 watch movements were ever made. Not all of the movements were cased up, resulting in less than 2,000 watches delivered to dealers. As can be seen from the figures you can imagine how many are left out there. The rare caliber 601 Memovox alarm movement differs from the others e.g, the caliber 489, in that it has a single bridge covering the barrel and wheels and is 1mm wider than both the caliber 489 and caliber 814. In also uses an alarm hand and a single-piece dial in place of the traditional inner alarm disk to indicate the alarm time. This timepiece is in an exemplary condition 80-micron heavy gold plated case Rolled/filled gold, few minor scuffs on the back. The case is factory original and fully hallmarked with both the “LeCoultre Co. Swiss” logo and the Individual Responsibility Mark used by LeCoultre (“LC” surrounding a pine tree emblem) during the 1950s. The movement, produced in a limited quantity of only 2000 pieces, served as the transitional mechanism between the 489 and 814. All examples appear to have been produced in 1952.Besides the rare caliber, other peculiarities of the watch is that it uses a small pointed hand to indicate the alarm rather than a revolving center disk.
