De Rijke & Co. Amalfi Second Series: Amazon, Sahara and Turini Driver’s Watches with Guy Allen De Rijke & Co. has released three new limited edition driver’s watches made together with automotive illustrator Guy Allen. Called Amazon, Sahara and Turini, each one is built around a single car: the Land Rover Defender, the Porsche 911 and the Lancia Stratos respectively. Every model is limited to 50 numbered pieces. The trio makes up the second series of the Amalfi special editions and extends a working relationship between De Rijke & Co. and Allen that goes back eight years. Allen first drew illustrations to promote the brand’s early watches, and that connection grew into the Amalfi concept, which arrived in 2024. Amalfi 38 mm Rotating Ceramic Case Driver’s Watch from the Rotterdam Atelier De Rijke & Co. makes mechanical watches in small numbers at its atelier near Rotterdam, using traditional machinery alongside a good deal of hand finishing. The Amalfi was designed from the start as a driver’s watch. Its two-piece round case, 38 mm across, rotates through 90 degrees, so the dial stays correctly oriented while your hands are on the wheel. For the second series, the case is now made entirely of ceramic and fitted with a sapphire crystal. Solid Silver Dials with Champlevé Enamel, 3D Engraving and Grand Feu Finish The dials are where the most ambitious work happens. They are made from solid 925 silver and decorated in champlevé enamel, with detailed three-dimensional engraving across the lower half. The varying depths of that engraving sit beneath a polished layer of transparent grand feu enamel, which gives the color real intensity and a sense of depth you can see from across a room. A specialist enameler in the UK handles the enamel firing, while the engraving, finishing and final assembly are done in-house at the De Rijke atelier.
