Tutima Glashütte Patria Two-Tone: Grade 5 Titanium and Solid 18-Karat Gold Tutima Glashütte has added a two-tone execution to the Patria manufacture line, and the combination is more considered than the term usually suggests. The case is Grade 5 titanium, polished to a high gloss, which keeps the watch light on the wrist while giving it a brightness the metal rarely gets credit for. Against it, the hands are solid 18-karat gold, made in the Glashütte atelier alongside the movement they drive, polished by hand with beveled, satin-finished edges. The silver-white dial shifts in hue as the light moves across it, and the warmth carries through the diamond-cut indices and the brand emblem, both rendered in a subtle gold tone. The small seconds subdial, with its circular grooved pattern and delicate gold-toned frame, settles naturally into the dial's proportions. The Manual-Winding Tutima 617 In-House Caliber Turn the watch over and the sapphire caseback reveals the manual-winding Tutima 617, an in-house caliber built along classic Glashütte lines. A three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing spans much of the movement, its edges beveled by hand and its ruby bearings set in gold chatons. The ratchet and crown wheels carry sunburst finishes, and the recoiling click mechanism is fitted with an elegantly curved steel spring. An open-worked balance cock leaves the free-sprung oscillation system in plain view: the Breguet overcoil is bent by hand in the atelier, as is the regulation of the screw balance, before it delivers the Patria's heartbeat at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The cognac-colored sheepskin leather strap is finished with a hand-stitched seam that echoes the gold of the hands and indices, and together with the skin-friendly titanium case and ergonomically shaped lugs, it makes the Patria as comfortable to wear as it is to look at.
