MUSEUM PIECE: 14K GOLD JACQUEMART QUARTER REPEATER (LeCoultre & Cie ÉBAUCHE) With documented family history (5 generations) & recently discovered, unique mechanical complication Introduction An extraordinary 14-karat hunter-cased pocket watch (savonnette) from the golden era of the Vallée de Joux (c. 1890). Built on a high-grade ébauche movement by LeCoultre & Cie. This watch is in absolute top condition and features extremely rare automaton figures as well as a newly discovered function previously undescribed in the literature. Key Features Movement: First-class Swiss LeCoultre & Cie ébauche (fully identified). Complications: Rare Jacquemart "lumberjack" automatons, quarter repeater, and functional diamond night display. Provenance: Handwritten inscription in the gold lid. Uninterrupted family ownership since 1911 (115 years of history). Material: 14K solid gold (approx. 120 grams total weight), 55 mm diameter. Authenticity: Matching serial numbers (#26490) on all covers, glass cuvette (double dustcover). Rare Jacquemart & LeCoultre Engineering Activating the slide lever brings the watch to life: Rare Lumberjack Automatons: Two hand-engraved, solid gold lumberjack figures ("Bûcherons") strike the tree in sync: one chimes the hours, the other the quarter hours with the repeater. LeCoultre Caliber: Fitted with screwed gold chatons, a Breguet overcoil hairspring, and Geneva stripes (Côtes de Genève). Unique Diamond Function Decoded (Pièce Unique) The true function of the diamond chip on the minute hand was recently decoded. When the slide lever is activated and the front cover is opened, the repeating mechanism acoustically chimes the time. At the same time, the diamond reflects even the faintest ambient light (moonlight or candlelight). This causes it to glitter in the dark, allowing the minutes to be read precisely. A globally unique Pièce Unique. Validation & History Its rarity was confirmed in 2023 by leading institutions: Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Museum Speelklok Utrecht, MIH Switzerland, and Espace Horloger de la Vallée de Joux. Condition & Maintenance The watch has been safely stored in a secure vault for decades. The movement is original but requires a professional service (COA: cleaning, oiling, and adjusting) due to prolonged inactivity. We intentionally leave this to the buyer to preserve its original, untouched state.
