The story behind this Ebel 1911 BTR ChronographThe House of Ebel has a rich watchmaking heritage deeply rooted in the Swiss landscape. Echoing its foundation in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy, whose initials form the name of the brand, the BTR collection marks a bold turning point. Launched in 2006, the BTR (Back To Roots) line had the noble ambition of bringing the Manufacture back to the forefront of men's mechanical watchmaking. The chronograph reference E9137L70 is fully in line with this approach, with an assertive presence. The founding technical anecdote lies at its mechanical heart. The manufacture movement that equips it has its origins in a 1995 project conceived to celebrate the brand's 75th anniversary. At the time, Ebel had acquired the rights to a Lemania sketch, modifying it masterfully and designing this famous calibre.Case, calibre and bracelet of this 1911 BTR ChronographThe architecture of this timepiece is based around a robust case in brushed and polished stainless steel measuring 44.5 mm in diameter and a proportionate thickness of around 13.5 mm. Its emblematic hexagonal silhouette is firmly held in place by visible screws on the bezel, guaranteeing tested water-resistance to 100 metres. Beneath the sapphire crystal, protected by an anti-reflective coating, is a dial woven from genuine black carbon fibre. It features luminescent truncated sword-shaped hands, 3 separate counters and a discreet date window at 4.30 pm. The screw-down sapphire crystal caseback offers an unobstructed view of the Ebel 137 calibre. This 322-piece self-winding mechanical movement is chronometer-certified. It has a power reserve of 48 hours and beats at a precise frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch fastens by means of a black alligator leather strap with square scales over-stitched in white and sealed by a steel folding clasp. Why this Ebel watchThis chronograph represents a fantastic opportunity for lovers of mechanical watchmaking looking for a prestigious complication off the classic path.
