I am offering for sale this elegant vintage Record Genève, produced around 1960 and powered by the Record 022-18 in-house manual-winding movement. Its light-colored dial, accented with applied hour markers and Arabic numerals with a rosy sheen, gives it a particularly warm character. Its 34-mm stainless steel case retains the slender, balanced proportions characteristic of Swiss watches from this period. Founded in Tramelan in 1903, Record was a true watch manufacturer, designing its own calibers before coming under the control of Longines in the early 1960s. The watch is equipped with the hand-wound Record 022-18 caliber, featuring 17 jewels and an Incabloc shock-absorption system. The movement is signed “Record Watch Co Genève” and is pictured in the advertisement. The crown bears the “r” for Record. The dial displays a natural patina as well as slight signs of aging between its center and the 9 o’clock hour marker. The watch is functioning and winds normally at the time of listing. However, I have not performed any recent professional servicing or accuracy testing on it. Specifications: • Brand: Record Geneva • Estimated period: circa 1960 • Visible case number/reference: 5189 • Movement: manual-winding mechanical • Caliber: Record 022-18 • Number of jewels: 17 • Shock protection system: Incabloc • Case: stainless steel • Diameter: approximately 34 mm excluding the crown • Dial: light champagne with applied hour markers • Crown: signed Record • Crystal: Plexiglas • Strap: black leather with lizard-skin pattern There is a small chip on the edge of the Plexiglas between the 1 and 2 o’clock hour markers. It is barely noticeable when worn, but is intentionally noted here for the sake of transparency. The case and strap show signs of wear consistent with the watch’s age. Water resistance has not been tested: this vintage watch should be kept away from water and moisture. The watch is sold without its original box or papers. The photographs show the actual watch being offered, including its dial, case, crown, movement, and markings on the case back. They are an integral part of the description.
