The Quantième Perpétuel (literally: perpetual calendar) features a month, day, and date display as well as a leap year indicator. The 39 mm octagonal case, bezel, crown, integrated bracelet, and folding clasp are made of 18-karat yellow gold. Sapphire crystal and automatic movement complete the design. This watch comes with the original Audemars Piguet papers. This rare Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Quantième Perpetual 25686BA was introduced in 1989 and is limited to only 233 pieces. Of these 233 pieces, only 70 were made in 18-karat yellow gold, like this one. This makes it one of only 70 watches. The octagonal case and integrated bracelet are based on the original ultra-thin design of Gerald Genta's 1972 Royal Oak (reference 5402).Although it is not the first ap Royal Oak Perpetual – that title will always belong to the 25554 introduced in 1984 – it is nevertheless a very early model from 1990, which is also one of the first with a sapphire crystal case back and will therefore always occupy a special place in history.
