This Skipper is undoubtedly the rarest and most prized of all Skippers ever produced, with barely 20 known examples in circulation. Its story begins in 1967 with the American skipper Emil Mosbacher, who won the 20th America's Cup on "The Intrepid", with Heuer chronographs on board. To celebrate this victory, Jack Heuer himself ordered this watch, the Heuer Carrera Skipper 7754. It's sometimes nicknamed the "Skipperera" because it's the only Skipper model based on an original 36mm Carrera case. The dial design is straight out of the swinging sixties, with colors taken from those of L'Intrépide itself: metallic blue on the dial, a mint green sub-dial and a mint green, green and orange regatta counter readable over 15 minutes. This graduation is typical of regatta watches, as it indicates to sailors the start of a race: At the start of a regatta, four shots are fired at 15-minute intervals. The first 3 are fired at 15, 10 and 5 minutes from the start (justifying the sub-dial cut-out), the 4th signifies the start. A legendary timepiece, extremely rare and impossible to find on the market.
