Overview For sale from my personal collection is a vintage Festina Extra jumbo dress watch from the 1950s, produced during Festina’s historic Swiss period in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The highlight is its large 37.6mm solid 18K rose gold case, an unusually generous size for a mid-century dress watch. It wears with strong presence while retaining the slim, elegant profile of classic 1950s Swiss watchmaking. The watch features an original unrestored silver/champagne dial, applied rose-gold numerals and indices, a domed acrylic crystal, and a manual-wind Felsa Caliber 390 movement. Dial & Aesthetics The original dial has developed attractive vintage patina, with fine speckling and light age-related marks consistent with age. The dial has applied rose-gold Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9, faceted dagger-style hour markers, and matching rose-gold dauphine hands. At 6 o’clock is a recessed subsidiary seconds register with concentric circular graining. Dial text: FESTINA EXTRA LA CHAUX-DE-FONDS ANCRE 17 RUBIS Case, Back & Dimensions The solid 18K rose gold case has a warm coppery tone, elegant downturned lugs, and a slim mid-century profile. The case is in attractive vintage condition, with light surface marks, minor edge wear, and small case-opening marks around the snap-back seam. The lugs remain well shaped and the watch has strong wrist presence. The snap-on caseback is stamped with Swiss gold hallmarks, 18K / 0.750, and case number 1216. The inner caseback features circular engine-turning/perlage.
