Watch in mint condition. Original strap 80% intact Zeitmeister Large Date: the name of this watch already gives an idea of its most important complication: the date in the large aperture. This is beautifully balanced by another display on the opposite side for a second time zone. The slender hour markers, polished stainless steel, and alligator leather strap add a touch of elegance to the watch's appearance. A classic for everyday wear. Swiss chronometers are certified by the COSC in Geneva, while German chronometers are (in this case) certified by Wempe itself at its Sternwarte observatory in Glashütte. Chronometer certification is a guarantee of the movement's performance, which is intended to add value to a product because it helps to support the manufacturer's claim of precision and reliability. A watch does not need to be certified as a chronometer to function well, but the fact that independent evaluation tests have been performed on each specific watch is an attraction for many people who invest a fair amount of money in a mechanical timepiece.
