Here I am offering a real gem, rare and very collectable -a superb limited edition timepiece from Excelsior Park. The watch is entitled the “Excelsior Park Seconde/Seconde and based on the Excelsior Park 5003 model. The watch was introduced by the company in 2022 and produced in very limited numbers, in fact a total of only 30 pieces were ever produced! You will probably never come across another individual wearing one -exclusive indeed! This particular model was the 7th in the production run. The watch is offered as basically in “as new” and never worn condition (apart from photography purposes) and comes beautifully presented in a most attractive Excelsior Park wooden storage box together with its original registration card (undated but obviously from 2022). The wooden box itself is contained in further card packaging, all correctly signed and the whole ensemble contained in an Excelsior Park hard card external box. The whole package can therefore be described as a “full set” and the watch comes on a quick change signed tan leather strap with signed steel pin buckle. Even the blue plastic protector on the crown is still in place. The original Excelsior Park “tag” is also present -it’s all there! The watch itself, although a little unusual is rather exquisite. The dial has a black background with two chronograph registers. Hours are marked in Arabic numerals in white, as is the surrounding tachygraph track. The hour hand has perhaps a pixelated design and is meant to resemble a baseball bat. UK residents may argue it looks more like a cricket bat, probably due to the blue handle part being much thinner than the bat portion itself! At the six o’clock position the words Swiss Made are printed and below the 12 o’clock position the name Excelsior has the words “Out of the park” superimposed but leaving the suffix Park “as is”. I believe the words are a pun on the company’s name and of course relate to a sporting term. This spirited timepiece is nicely sized at 38.9 mm with a thickness of 13 mm. The case-back itself is of the “exhibition type” allowing you to observe the manual wind chronograph movement in action. You are also provided with a solid case-back should you wish to change. This solid case-back is contained in a nice little signed brown leather pouch and still has its plastic protector in place. The case-back is engraved and includes the model number , “07” of course for this particular timepiece. Inside, the watch is powered by the 23 jewelled manual wind chronograph Sellita SW510 M BH b. This has a reported power reserve of 58-63 hours and a beat rate of 28,800 v.p.h. (or 4 Hz). The movement is described as being “bi-compax” (with no date of course) and many owners described the movement as being “wonderful” -some testimony!! The watch design was a collaboration between Excelsior Park and the highly talented artist Monsieur Romaric Andre and is no stranger to collaberations having previously worked on watch offerings from the likes of H. Moser & Cie, Nivada Grenchen and Louis Erard. NB. Plastic display stand not included. There you have it -certainly a rather unusual timepiece, colourful, lively and surely a conversation starter.
