This very rare square-shaped watch comes from my collection and is still in excellent condition. It still features the flexible strap that was common at the time, which looks very elegant with its matte finish. The watch has been serviced by a watchmaker and is still running reliably. With this watch, you are acquiring a beautiful piece from the 1960s that is sure to turn heads. Precimax was founded in 1933 by S. Tripet. The company produced wristwatches and pocket watches, as well as alarm clocks and pendulum clocks, along with the corresponding movements. Nothing is known about the company’s history beyond 1951, except that it exhibited its products at the “Basel Fair” in 1949. In 1953, the company also operated under the name “Exactus SA.” In 1966, it opened a store in Geneva. Other brands included “Victoria” and “Walux.” The company was still in existence in 1974. Until the very end, both companies produced the full range of wristwatches, including chronographs, calendar watches, automatic watches, and diver’s watches. In the 1940s and 1950s, Precimax was a manufacturer and producer of raw movements—or at least some movements—with a factory in Neuchâtel. Precimax used not only its own calibers in the watches it produced but also high-quality calibers from third-party suppliers such as Adolph Schild SA, Unitas, ETA, Landeron, or Valjoux. Watch production continued until at least 1977 but was then discontinued due to the rise of quartz watches. Although Precimax was only a small watch manufacturer, it did distribute its watches worldwide.
