The tourbillon, a pinnacle of watchmaking art, a pinnacle of Alain Silberstein's thinking. What is a régulateur? in Italian regulator is a watch with a dial in which the indications of hours, minutes and seconds are separate and do not share the same axis, as is the case with ordinary analog watches. The regulator arose in the xviii-xix centuries as a reference instrument for watchmakers and astronomers. Bench clocks ("precision regulators") were used to regulate other clocks, hence the name. The separation of indications reduced visual interference, facilitating accurate reading. Once again, Alain Silberstein's distinctive touch is immediately visible: a large white arrow hand for minutes, a red triangle for hours, and a small yellow serpentine hand for seconds. The reading of time is broken down into its different parts in a language that is both joyful, sophisticated and childlike, with the artistic and philosophical depth that characterizes all of Silberstein's work: it is a play on proportions, with references ranging from Bauhaus to the rich history of watchmaking.
