8999€ for this Exceptional Chrono Longines Nonius ref 8225-2, 1969, Fly Back 10th of second n.o.s/ Big Eye : For collectors or discerning enthusiasts: Rare, original, innovative and superb Longines Chronograph in perfect working order, born of Longines' determination in the late 1960s to be at the pinnacle of chronograph precision: developed for divers and athletes, it is equipped with caliber 538, which was a converted version of the legendary caliber 30CH and features a highly innovative gauge at the tip of the chronograph seconds hand, for a more accurate reading of time, to 1/10th of a second, at a glance. Its name Nonius comes from a measuring tool invented in 1542 by the Portuguese mathematician Pedro Nunes (the Vernier principle also used for calipers): the curved extension of the chronograph hand features a zero-to-nine scale, designed so that each zero-to-nine digit, perfectly aligned with one of the hatchings on the outer track, divided into 90 intervals over 90 degrees, indicates the exact 1/10th of a second within this marker. It's also unique in its character and incomparable elegance: its patented bright yellow chrono hand moves over a matte black dial, equipped with a single silvered "Big eye" 30-minute counter to accentuate efficient readability of the short time. The superb sobriety and legibility of the dial, combined with the asymmetrical balance of the dial with its logo applied, in majesty and mirror image, to the 30-minute counter, all enhanced by steel hands and bezel, again dedicated to efficient and precise reading, is simply brilliant and irresistible. And you haven't yet seen the magnificent bright yellow chrono hand, so equipped with its number train running like a caterpillar along the rails of time... This unique precision, this incomparable elegance and poetry, sublimated by a large crystalline glass, is preciously nestled in a very solid protective case in mirror-polished stainless steel, with screwed back and top ring to ensure reinforced water-resistance. Case (1-10): (9 )superb cushion-shaped 43mm, 3-piece, stainless steel case, mirror-polished, near-perfect (very few micro-scratches, almost invisible); outer caseback with staineless steel engravings and serial no. 15630163 / inner engraved with brand, logo, reference8225-2, prod. date 9-69 and 3 Swiss patent numbers dde: 7933/66 ; 11885/66 ; 4678/67 ; Movement: large Longines cal. 538 manual chronograph with 10th second recording indicator, based on the CH30 fly back movement, in very good condition with all functions working, signed longines wath c° with movement number 30174XXX Dial: superb original matt black dial with applied Longines logo, impeccable markings, scales, numerals and swiss t.
